Let’s get one thing straight: I’m not broken. And neither are you.
But the healing industry? Yeah — that’s a different story.
Somewhere along the line, healing became a trap.
You start with a journal. Add a little breathwork. Maybe some attachment theory and a sprinkle of inner child meditations. And before you know it, you’re in a full-time relationship with your trauma while life waits in the corner, arms crossed, bored to death.
I used to think I was making progress. Turns out, I was just getting better at performing my pain. Better at naming my wounds. Better at existing in a state of self-examination.
But living? Not so much.

The healing-industrial complex thrives on your doubt. It sells you the idea that you are always just one more course, one more journal prompt, one more somatic body scan away from finally being 'healed' and 'whole.'
Spoiler: you already are.
You met someone skilled at manipulation. You trusted someone who weaponised that trust. You loved someone who used your love against you. This doesn't make you damaged goods, it makes you human.
But the wellness world has turned normal human responses to abnormal treatment into pathology:
- Your hypervigilance? It's actually pattern recognition and survival intelligence
- Your trust issues? Appropriate caution after betrayal
- Your anger? Healthy response to mistreatment (not something to breathe away)
Your nervous system isn't broken—it's working exactly as designed.
Healing was never meant to be your identity. You are not a reaction to abuse. You are not your diagnosis. You are not a walking trauma timeline waiting for closure.
You are a whole beautiful person with ideas, desires, edges, and fire.
This isn’t about pretending nothing happened. It’s about deciding you’re done being defined by it.
You don’t have to achieve the perfect healed version of yourself before you take up space in your own damn life.
So here’s your permission: You’re allowed to live loud, love wild, feel joy, and make bold moves. You are allowed to go to a restaurant by yourself. Not as a "self-love" practice or "inner child healing ritual" but just because you love pasta and you want some right now!
The simple act of living without a therapeutic high-vibration in-touch with your inner mean girl ritual behaviour, is the best thing you can do for you.
What Actually Heals You
Real healing isn't performative. It doesn't require a morning routine that takes three hours. It doesn't require honing your diagnosing skills or learning to vibrate higher (whatever that means!).
Actual healing looks like:
- Trusting your gut when something feels off (without needing to understand the neuroscience)
- Setting boundaries without a psychology degree
- Choosing people who are kind to you (revolutionary, I know)
- Living your life instead of constantly analyzing it
- Having pizza for breakfast because you want to
It's messy, non-linear, and completely free.
Your Permission Slip
You have permission to:
- Be suspicious of people who hurt you (that's wisdom, not a wound)
- Take as long as you need to feel safe again
- Stop explaining your choices to people who wouldn't have made them
- Be wonderfully, imperfectly human without a recovery story
- Quit your full-time healing job and just... live
You are not a project to be completed or a puzzle to be solved. You are a person who experienced something difficult and survived it. That survival doesn't make you broken—it makes you remarkably resilient.
The most rebellious thing you can do in a culture that profits from your perceived brokenness?
Believe you're already whole and start living every single day.
Why This Matters
Because as long as you're constantly fixing, you’re also constantly telling yourself: “I’m not whole yet. I’m not ready yet.” But you are. You’ve always been.
The self-help industry will keep whispering: “Just one more insight, one more journal, one more download…” But the truth is, the most rebellious thing you can do is close the healing tab and go outside.
Take the trip.
Start the business.
Laugh too loud.
Date yourself.
Say yes to the thing that terrifies and excites you in equal measure.
Not because you’re "fixed". But simply because you’re here. Now. Your Life is Now.
🧨 One Last Truth Bomb
Searching for healing helped you survive. But it’s living that will teach you how to thrive. And thriving isn’t soft or pretty. It’s fierce, messy, and unpredictable. Just like you.
